This is what happens when you bake a Chicago created pound cake recipe at sea level.

The eruption actually happened on both sides of the pan. After it cooled, we cut the pan and cake out of the explosion and still carried it to coffee fellowship the next day.

Better luck next time.

The question is, did anyone eat it? LOL! That is kind of amazing. I'll bet you could google what changes to make to the recipe at your level. Maybe more or less baking soda/powder.

You cook like I do, at least you have an excuse!

I think you call it "Volcano Cake" and congratulate yourselves on dealing with new elements in your baking! That's a little frustrating. I wonder if King Arthur Flour's site has any suggestions for combatting sea level!

Seriously, a little strawberry syrup or something poured down from the top....yummy!

Oh my goodness, that's quite a sight! LOL But if it was good then what does it matter. I bet you could say you had the most unique desert there. :D

It is obvious that Chatty Kelly and I were raised together. I was going to say exactly what she did. "at least you have an excuse!" haha
